Warwick are one of South Africa’s most iconic producers, and their signature wine, Trilogy, is unique, both for its outstanding quality and because it’s a cabernet franc-dominated Bordeaux blend. Winemaker JD Pretorious described 2021 as ‘the happiest of vintages’, and having tasted the wine, I can see why. It’s arguably the finest and most detailed Trilogy I’ve tasted and one that’s likely to age longer than any other while still offering outstanding value.

Occupying a stunning piece of land in the northern Stellenbosch area of the Simonsberg mountain, the vineyards benefit from the warmer, drier Paarl and Swartland areas to the north and north-west, while maintaining freshness thanks to a clear view of Table Mountain and False Bay to the south. The 2021comprises 49% cabernet franc, 48% cabernet sauvignon and 3% merlot, with 39% new oak for 24 months, offering the perfect balance of ripe fruit and structure. This is not to be missed.
