2018 Meursault Collection
Top-quality village Puligny with more depth and grip than most whilst retaining a lovely freshness. Made in 600-litre barrels with 15% new oak.
This is quite a firm style of Meursault matured in very cool cellars. It starts out with a lemony freshness that deepens with time towards baked apples and later some honeyed notes appear. All white Burgundy of this level is worth decanting but especially Jobard’s wines, which are relatively tight when first poured, but open up and become more expansive with oxygen.
This wonderful vineyard often produces the best wine of the cellar, as was the case in 2018. Situated on a hillside, it has a stony soil high in limestone, and this gives a quite taut and tense young wine, but one that broadens and deepens over time. Structured yet pleasantly ripe, this will develop beautifully.
