Alsace Value Case
Wines included
Alsace Auxerrois, Louis Sipp 2019
The auxerrois grape combines the freshness and delicacy of pinot blanc with the fat and spice of pinot gris. Rarely bottled alone, this is a charming example which may be enjoyed on its own, with poultry, or with lightly spiced cuisine.
Pinot Noir Classic, Famille Hugel 2019
A lovely pinot vintage in Alsace, showing generous youthful black fruits, just a hint of spice, good structure and appetising freshness.
Sylvaner, Léon Beyer 2021
Dry sylvaner with the crispness to complement shellfish now but will open up to the versatile wine we have come to expect from this historic Alsace house.
Riesling Midelberg, Boeckel 2020
Pristine young riesling from Thomas Boeckel's organic vineyards, with mineral precision and long fresh flavour.
Edelzwicker Special Cuvée, Joseph Cattin 2021
Edelzwicker translates as 'noble blend', in this case the classic Alsace grapes: muscat, riesling, pinot gris and gewurztraminer. With some complexity as a result but still light and fruity, this is a no-excuse-needed multi-purpose delicate dry white.
Gewurztraminer, Cave de Turckheim 2020
A touch more sweetness than the 2019 but with a lovely balance and freshness, with typical bouquet of rose petals and pot pourri spice. This is great with curries of many types and anything influenced with the flavour of ginger.
