Amarone della Valpolicella, Tenuta Novare 2021
Made by Andrea Lonardi MW, this is a more modern style of Amarone, with a shorter drying time, and less oak the result is much fresher yet still with a distinctive richness. From a great vintage in this part of Italy, this wine is showing plenty of spicy bramble-fruit notes that are pure on the full-bodied palate.

Tenuta Novare
Owned by the thoroughly modern and forward thinking Bertani Group, this Valpolicella estate has a winemaking presence that dates back to the 11th century, though local tradition insists that grapes have been grown there for much longer. Wine production really kicked up several gears in the 18th century and grew significantly until the Bertani family acquired the estate in 1957. They began a reassessment of production here, improving techniques and equipment and consequently the quality of the wines. Today the grapes come from their own vineyards in Arbizzano near Verona, in the very heart of Valpolicella classic territory.
