André Van Rensburg Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, Stellenbosch 2020
Now retired from Cape estate Vergelegen, multi award-winning winemaker André van Rensburg weaves his magic under his own label on its debut. A ‘classy’ and ‘perfectly ready’ Bordeaux blend said our Wine Champions panel as they voted it a winner this year. The blend is 67% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 7% cabernet franc, and 4% malbec, matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, half of them new.
