Ansonica Bianco Calabria, Cataldo Calabretta 2023
Fourth-generation family-owned producer, Cataldo Calabretta, have played an influential role in reviving Calabria as a wine producing region and their wonderfully aromatic ansonica - also known as inzolia - has real Mediterranean character. Twenty-four hours of skin contact during fermentation gives the wine a pale amber appearance and a beguiling perfume of orange blossom and garrigue, spicy curry leaf, and citrus zest. With invigorating acidity and a gentle grip on the palate, this is a gem of a find.
