Anyday Italian Case
Wines included
Tarantino Primitivo Segnavento, Pervini 2021
The primitivo grape can make a great Italian anyday red, here creating a wine that has juicy blackberry fruit, a medium-bodied palate and a refreshing finish. A cracking choice to have on standby, with or without food.
Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola, Sicilia 2021
Pure blackberry and raspberry-fruit driven, soft, balanced Sicilian red that is perfect with or without food. The estate works to conserve the local flora and has catalogued rare species of orchids on their land. As a further move to improve biodiversity, Feudo Arancio has planted a lemon grove inside the stone quarries on the estate and thus rehabilitated previously damaged land.
Barbera del Piemonte, Amonte 2022
We all need a fuss-free red – cue this juicy barbera from north-west Italy. There's good intensity of cherry and redcurrant berries with a medium to light body and a refreshing finish.
Rosso Piceno, Tenute Pieralisi 2021
A great blend of montepulciano and sangiovese from Italy's east coast, Rosso Piceno tends to slip under the radar but can provide great value, as here with appetising juicy red fruit with lovely spice and leather notes. Monteschiavo, owned by the Pieralisi family, has really upped its game in recent years.
Baccolo Appassimento Rosso Veneto 2022
This popular Veneto red's opulent rich style is achieved by partial natural air-drying of the grapes (a mix of merlot and corvina) to add richness. Black cherry and leather on the nose, with more spice developing on the palate and finish.
Fedele Rosso, Terre Siciliane 2023
Easy drinking Sicilian red, made from predominantly nero d'avola, with blackberry and cherry flavours that are well balanced by the juicy acidity. Medium bodied and dry, this is a great anyday wine, particularly with a simple pasta.
