Wines included
Cairanne, Domaine Roche 2020
Very full-bodied, richly flavoured Rhône, from an up- and-coming estate that used to deliver its crop to the co-op. Lots of old vines behind this excellent cuvee, which is outstanding in the sun-drenched 2020 vintage.
Cinsault, Le Paradou, Château Pesquié 2022
Cinsault is one of the unsung heros of the southern Rhône, yet it makes attractively fruity wines that are soft and fragrant. This comes from a top estate in the Ventoux.
The Wine Society`s Generation Series Vinsobres 2021
Altitude and mountain breezes make Vinsobres the ideal place to source a Côtes-du-Rhône, and this example, made for us by our old friends the Jaume family for our 150th anniversary, has bright open fruity notes of cherry and raspberry, ripe tasting but without any heaviness. Ventoux Les Traverses, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2022
Richly flavoured and fruity but always fresh red from the slopes of Mont Ventoux. Made from majority ripe grenache with syrah in support, it offers a spot-hitting and delicious palate of ripe red berries and a touch of spice.
Grignan-les-Adhémar, Delas 2021
A grenache-syrah blend from the Tricastin at the northern end of the southern Rhône. Amazingly good value from on-form Delas, this is dark, vibrant and richly flavoured.
Côtes-du-Rhône Rive Droite Rive Gauche 2022
Even among the Rhône`s many great vintages in the last few years, 2022 stands out as something special. And, speaking of standing out, this gorgeous, pocket-friendly expression of this wonderful year, sourced from both banks of the river, really impressed our Wine Champions tasters with its ‘plush, easy charm` and ‘substantial fruit and structure.`
