Barbaresco Roncaglie, Poderi Colla 2020

0 star rating 0 Reviews
Colla's family tended vineyard, Roncaglie, sits at 240 to 280 metres. This balanced site has lead to a perfumed nebbiolo, with orange peel and floral notes but with fine firm tannins and bright acidity that will allow this wine to age beautifully.

Poderi Colla

Beppe Colla was one of the great names of Piedmont wine, making the reputation of Prunotto before it was sold to Antinori by using his remarkable knowledge of where the best grapes were grown. With his much younger brother (by 25 years), Tino, and the next generation he worked tirelessly at this family-owned winery. During that time he also gave his all to the role of president of the Conzorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco. Since he died aged 88 early in 2019 the family continue to make excellent Piedmont wines using their own grapes from Roncaglie in Barbaresco (planted in 1969 and 1980) and Barolo Bussia Dardi le Rose which Beppe always thought produced the most balanced nebbiolo wines. Tino spent a formative period in Burgundy and likes wines with finesse which respect their origin, and he also grows a little pinot noir and riesling.
