Classic BBQ Reds
Wines included
The Society's Australian Shiraz 2021
Aside from being good people, Bleasdale also make wines that consistently overperform, even in more challenging vintages. This is a prime example. It's wonderfully vibrant, bold, generous and fruity, with flavours of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry. Given the outstanding quality of the 2021 vintage, its no surprise that this may well be the best ever release of this wine.
Papa Luna Garnacha-Syrah-Mazuelo, Calatayud 2021
Chunky and full-bodied with layers of red fruit-flavour and a twist of Mediterranean spice. Calatyud's intense heat combined with old vines and the talent of British winemaker Norrel Robertson MW result in a sensuous and expressive red. Now bottled in lighter glass.
The Society's California Old-Vine Zinfandel 2022
Classic zinfandel from California, with cherry and sarsaparilla on the nose, wild strawberry and redcurrant coming through on the full yet soft palate and a hint of vanilla on the finish.
Rui Madeira 'Altos da Beira', Terras da Beira 2022
Generous and smooth black fruit lifted by the freshness of high-altitude vineyards, combining tinta roriz (tempranillo) and scented, structured touriga nacional in this pork- and charcuterie-friendly red.
The Society's French Grenache, Côtes Catalanes 2022
Grenache is the main red variety in the Roussillon, the warmest province of France. Very versatile, grenache here makes a deliciously full and fruity red which can be served cool.
Baccolo Appassimento Rosso Veneto 2022
This popular Veneto red's opulent rich style is achieved by partial natural air-drying of the grapes (a mix of merlot and corvina) to add richness. Black cherry and leather on the nose, with more spice developing on the palate and finish.
