Wines included
Beaujolais-Villages Cuvée Annie, Jacques Dépagneux 2020
A supple and upfront Beaujolais with crunchy red-fruit character that was justly voted a 2023 Wine Champion. Well-balanced and with appealing freshness. The gamay grape, with its soft tannins and relatively light alcohol, lends itself perfectly to 30 minutes in the fridge before serving.
Morgon 'Collection', JM Aujoux 2020
Classic, well-priced Morgon from the Aujoux stable, this cru Beaujolais has good fruit density and plenty of ripe red-cherry character on the palate.
Moulin à Vent Rochegrès, Aujoux 2020
From the Rochegrès vineyard, one of Moulin-à-Vent's most celebrated, this is a ripe and scented cru Beaujolais with appealing sweet fruit and the palate and a juicy finish. Great value for money.
The Society's Beaujolais-Villages 2022
A Wine Champion in 2023 following our extensive blind tastings. 'Fabulous purity` and ‘lipsmacking freshness` secured victory for this delightful 2022, primed, said Sebastian Payne MW, for a ‘delicious steak` and a high probability of finishing the bottle!
Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes, Château d'Emeringes 2022
A serious Beaujolais-Villages from a very well-sited estate close to Juliénas, in the north of the Beaujolais region. After the lighter 2021 vintage, the 2022 delivers more depth of flavour with bags of ripe, fresh, crunchy red fruit, and a long finish.
Fleurie, Domaine la Portelle 2018
A soft, mellow, highly satisfying fully mature Fleurie from an impeccable source, this was aged in small wooden barrels and is now showing Burgundy-like mellowness. It displays the hallmark perfume so typical of the wines of Fleurie. A Beaujolais cru perfect for drinking now.
