Beaujolais Cru Case
Wines included
Juliénas Beauvernay, Domaine Joseph Burrier 2019
Full-flavoured Beaujolais, from a well-sited hillside vineyard planted on volcanic soils with plenty of vibrant red-fruit character. A textbook example of this fleshy cru from a lovely vintage.
Moulin-à-Vent, Piron-Lameloise 2019
With notes of violets and wild cherries, this is a round and satisfying Moulin à Vent with vibrant, fresh fruit character on the palate, and a touch of tannin on the finish. The Beaujolias cru, a collaboration between Dominique Piron and the Lamelloise family of Burgundian restaurateurs goes particularly well with game.
Morgon 'Collection', JM Aujoux 2020
Classic, well-priced Morgon from the Aujoux stable, this cru Beaujolais has good fruit density and plenty of ripe red-cherry character on the palate.
Fleurie, Domaine la Portelle 2017
A fully mature Fleurie from an impeccable source, this was aged in small wooden barrels and is now showing Burgundy-like mellowness. Smooth and satisfying.
Stéphane Aviron, Chénas 2020
From vines planted over a century ago, this has nicely evolved soft fruit character, somewhat reminiscent of a mellow red Burgundy. This cru Beaujolais delivers remarkably good value for money.
Brouilly, Cuvée Marcel 2018
With ruby red colour and a bouquet of black cherries, this is a well-balanced, fully mature unoaked cru Beaujolais which will match wide array of dishes, or can be enjoyed on its own.
