A fruity and peppery southern Spanish red from vineyards in Alicante, where Pepe Mendoza's family vineyard and his winemaking talent are pushing boundaries in Spain. The monastrell grape endows a blackberry richness and peppery notes backed by the succulence of giró (the local name for garnacha).
A smooth, easy-drinking blend with juicy notes of plum, blackberry and fig. Full-bodied, fruit-forward and charming. This has been a best seller within our Australia range for a number of years now.
A juicy, lighter style of red-fruited cinsault that works a treat when served cool, but is capable of standing up to all manner of foods. Extremely versatile with an agreeable lightness of touch, it will absorb big flavours without bludgeoning lighter bites. It's a wine that, for our new south Africa buyer Matthew Horsley, offers a glimpse of South Africa's bright future.
Made along the heel of Italy in sea-cooled sunny Puglia, this old-vine negromaro is generous and soft, with blackcurrant and plum flavours. A little mocha and a sweeter finish point to well judged ageing in large old oak barrels, really enhancing the overall quality. Perfect with grilled fish or simply barbecued meat or vegetables.
Probably the top estate in Fitou with a wealth of old vines, especially carignan and a reputation for making wines of finesse in a region famous for robust reds. This is a full-bodied Languedoc-Roussillon wine that expresses dark woodland fruit.
