Bononia Estate Gamza 2021

Red Wine from Bulgaria
5.000000000 star rating 1 Reviews
Gamza is a grape variety from Bulgaria which makes fresh, supple and light red wines. This great-value example has attractive strawberry and raspberry fruit aromas, with a touch of oak spice, very little tannin and silky freshness. Perfumed, slightly floral and nicely balanced.

Bononia Estate

Originally, the site of the Bononia Estate winery was a 19th century brewery that had, since the collapse of Communism in Bulgaria in 1989, fallen into disarray and disuse. 20 years later the Yotov family saw potential here and bought the site with the idea of growing grapes sustainably.. Three years after that the first vineyards were planted, 100 acres of them, and expansion since has seen the vineyard area grow to nearly 300 acres. A number of varieties have now been planted, with many of the familiar international varieties such as chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, viognier, pinot noir and cabernet sauvignon, but not forgetting the native Bulgarian variety gamza.
