Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made from gamay grapes in the Beaujolais region of France. It is known for its light, fruity flavour and is typically released shortly after the harvest, usually on the third Thursday of November. This wine is often celebrated for its freshness and is meant to be consumed young, within a year or two of its release. By law, all grapes in the region must be harvested by hand and the wine is made in a style that emphasises fresh fruit flavours. The celebration of Beaujolais Nouveau's release has become a cultural event, with festivals and parties held in France and around the world. Its popularity is partly due to its easy-drinking style and the excitement surrounding its early release each year.

Having opened in 2012, 10 Greek Street is a bustling, neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Soho, featuring a daily changing, seasonal menu and an evolving, exciting, reasonably priced wine list, in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

This excellent Beaujolais-based négoce is the source of the bulk of our Beaujolais for the last 50 years and we work closely with technical director Jean-Marc Darbon. Négoces have had a huge part to play in the recent history of Beaujolais, and all its apparent simplicity, Beaujolais is a complicated region that is often the victim of its own capricious climate with late frosts and violent hailstorms a common recurrence.  Dealing with a négociant allows The Wine Society to pick and choose, often blending together from different estates in order to end up with a wine that is better than any of its parts.
