We were so pleased to see this enduring favourite crowned a Wine Champion yet again this year: it is the product of more than a century of working with the small house of Alfred Gratien, and seeing it triumph so consistently is a testament to the quality that has resulted. Fermented in small oak casks and given generous bottle ageing, it shows great depth of flavour and class. This fragrant rosé, made mostly from cabernet franc with a touch of grolleau for roundness and charm, has a soft, fruity flavour and persistent fizz. Delightfully clean and refreshing, this is a lovely aperitif but is gorgeous, too, with shellfish.

They are not only reducing carbon emissions, they are also actively sucking carbon out of the atmosphere by farming in a way that works in harmony with nature. They are well worth a visit in person.
