Cellar Treasures Mixed Case
Wines included
Château Montrose, Saint-Estèphe 2010
This embodies the classic virtues of Montrose: pure, distinguished, firm and mineral with fine, silky texture and seamless length of flavour. Perfectly balanced claret.
Domaine Jean Grivot, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Pruliers 2017
Ripe and aromatic red Burgundy from the balanced 2017 vintage. Pruliers can be a firm wine but this has relatively soft tannins and a round palate. Very appealing.
Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Caillerets 2019
Rich and expressive Chassagne from one of this Burgundy commune’s best vineyards, ideally situated high on the slope. A small, warm harvest produced opulent wines balanced by firm supporting structure. Impressive.
Henschke Mount Edelstone Eden Valley Shiraz 2018
Henschke`s ‘second wine', is a truly special bottle: another incredibly ageworthy red which is a testament to the top-tier of Australian fine wine. This has complex notes of earth, cassis, with spicy lifted pepper and soy. The palate is rich, full and approachable now, with ample ripe tannins, focused acidity and huge generosity of fruit. At once big, bold and luxurious but also elegant and fine. 2018 was a truly spectacular vintage for South Australia, and one which some winemakers said was the best they ever worked. It also marks 150 years since the foundation of Henschke, making this a particularly special buy. Low stock: limited to six bottles per member.
Erdener Prälat Riesling Reserve Grosses Gewächs, Dr Loosen 2018
The Erdener Prälat is a highly sought after vineyard, south facing and on iron rich, red slate soils. It is a warm site of 1.6 hectares that produces a wine with power and structure. The palate has a stony, yeasty character that adds layers of complexity with captivating ginger, saffron, honey and dried lemon flavours. The vines are over 100 years old and the reserve is aged for 24 months in large barrels and a further 24 months in bottle prior to release.
Mayacamas Mt Veeder, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
A particularly voluptuous vintage of this world-famous California cabernet. Ripe black plum and cherry, dark chocolate and dried sage aromas, while the palate is velvety and supple, underpinned by Mayacamas’ hallmark acidity.
