Château Cap de Haut, Haut-Médoc 2016

4.166670000 star rating 30 Reviews
This mature left-bank claret immediately appealed to our Wine Champions tasting panel this year, with its ‘evolved, ripe nose’, ‘savoury graphite notes’ and ‘well-judged oak’. An expressive Bordeaux from an excellent vintage at a very good price.

This Left Bank claret comes from Haut-Médoc, a great source of value in Bordeaux, as demonstrated here. The wine has an appealing freshness and youthfulness for its age, with lifted blackcurrant fruit and notes of menthol and graphite. It has some complexity from the bottle age, but still shows the potential to drink well for another four or five years. Great-value everyday claret, recognised by the buying team's label of Wine Champion for 2023.
