Château Passedieu
Founded as recently as 1986 this Bourg estate has not taken long to make its mark with the quality and value of its wines. Stéphane Février owns 5 hectares of vines on clay and limestone soils characteristic of the commune, and the property came about when a larger estate was split, an estate that was listed in the one-time Bordeaux bible Féret as a particularly fine estate in 1898. The vines are properly mature here, averaging 40 years of age, and planted with 75% merlot, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec, the latter also a common feature of plantings in Bourg. After the harvest the grapes are sorted at the cellars before pressing and the vinification is classical..
