Touraine Chenonceaux Les Racines du Soleil, Domaine Guénault 2023
White Wine from France - Loire
New to our range, and from Society favourite Domaine Guenault, comes the Racines du Soleil. From the up-and-coming appellation Touraine Chenonceaux, which benefits from south-facing slopes with excellent sun exposure and mineral-rich clay-limestone and flint soils that create a sauvignon bBanc of depth and character. Aged for 12 months on the yeast lees, it pours a golden hue, offering a creamy, weighty texture with layers of ripe stone fruit and flinty minerality. The gateway to fine Loire whites, combining luxurious creaminess with finesse and precision.

Bougrier
Maison Bougrier is a successful family-owned négociant company in the Loire founded in 1885 now run by the fifth generation of Bougriers. The company has significant domaine and winery holdings in three major areas: Touraine, Anjou and Muscadet giving it full control over vineyards, grapes and production in a number of sites.
The Touraine area produces whites from both chenin blanc and sauvignon blanc grape varieties. Bougrier’s premium white from Touraine is made from 100% sauvignon blanc grapes and was originally labelled for us as The Society’s Touraine Sauvignon, now sold under the Les Hauts Lieux label.
Domaine Guénault is one of the family’s own properties and situated on steep slopes overlooking the Cher river, which gives the grapes excellent sun exposure. The sauvignon here is grassy and scented and a popular choice as an aperitif.

Big and quite a beefy Sauvignon. Lots of delivery for the price, even if not that much finesse. Good value. JancisRobinson.com
