Azienda Agricola Frascole
There is a lot of history on the Frascole estate, with evidence of Etruscan and Roman occupation here. In the great scheme of things agronomist Enrico Lippi has only been here for a very short time having bought the estate in 1992 with his late wife, but the changes and improvements they wrought since then have been remarkable.
When they bought it, the land and the properties on it were in a sorry state and it took many years of investment and hard work, refurbishing the vineyards and the buildings, to create not only a fine Chianti estate but a village of holiday lets as well. Enrico has a great passion for the place and a passionate desire to make it work because his roots are here.
The estate covers 100 hectares at between 350 and 500 metres above sea level in the hills overlooking the village of Dicomano. Enrico is an agronomist and he looks after the 15 hectares of vines together with 9 hectares of olives, all farmed organically.
Over the years much has changed. The density of plantings has increased, yields have lowered and the vines are managed more closely, with green harvesting and hand picking of the fruit the norm.
