Christmas Day Case
Another 2021 Wine Champion from winemaker Olivier Sèze, who also made the Château Caronne Sainte Gemme 2015. Olivier is now retired but was at the peak of his powers in 2012, and this cigar-box scented, mellow and understated claret will please those who favour a more traditional and mature style.
A vibrant, full and fruity Chianti made by Alberto Antonini, one of Italy's brightest winemakers, from organically cultivated vines on his family estate in the hills north-west of Empoli, Tuscany.
Big, rich and round white Burgundy but not heavy or coarse. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to capture the appley and melony fruit, and then kept on its lees to enrich the flavour until bottling in the spring.
This Fiano stood out in our 2021 Wine Champions blind tasting and it’s easy to see why. With peach and apricot flavours, an intense yet refreshing style, this characterful Sicilian white is easy to enjoy by the glass or with a range of dishes.
Praised by our Wine Champions tasters for its spicy fruity character, this excellent reserva from Spain’s most famous wine region was aged a year in French oak barrels, imbuing a creamy texture and a real sense of completeness that made it stand out from the crowd. It is also an International Wine Challenge silver and Decanter World Wine Awards bronze medal winner in 2021.
Coming from the same New Zealand stable as the delicious single-vineyard sauvignon already in our range, here the Holdaway family has once again created a wine which perfectly captures the deliciousness of the 2020 vintage. A different style to the single-vineyard, this is riper and rounder, with notes of key lime pie and lemon zest.
