Claret for Drinking Now Case
Wines included
Château Canada, Bordeaux Supérieur 2018
A hit vintage after vintage, but particularly good in 2018. This is from a small area between Côtes de Bourg and Fronsac in Bordeaux and the blend is mostly merlot with 30% cabernet sauvignon providing freshness and just the right amount of backbone.
Château La Grave de Bertin Réserve, Bordeaux 2019
Well-balanced, rich and satisfying merlot-based claret – with cabernets franc and sauvignon for balance – from the respected Furt family property between Saint-Emilion and the city of Bordeaux. This savoury, traditionally styled wine It will benefit from being decanted for half and hour or so prior to drinking.
Château Lary Tagot, Bordeaux 2018
The brothers who jointly owned Chateau Lary have split this Bordeaux property, and Lary Tagot comes from one half of the vineyard. Ripe and satisfying, this is an impressive claret at this price level. Delicious now, it will develop further with a little time and provide a great deal of drinking pleasure.
