Concha y Toro Corte Ignacio Maipo Alto Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Alto Maipo cabernets have a fine cedary aroma and a firm palate, not dry but not fruit bombs either. This is a top example made by one of Chile's greatest winemakers, Ignacio Recabarren, exclusively for us. Matured in 225-litre barriques until the tannins have softened and the aromas have developed.
Château du Puch, Bordeaux 2020
Savoury, merlot based claret with plenty of appeal. The addition of 20% cabernet sauvignon to the blend lends structure and grip. Pair with roast lamb or beef. From a well-respected Bordeaux property in the village of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne in the Entre-deux-Mers that has for over 20 years employed workers with disabilities as part of an assistance through work scheme.
The Society's Exhibition Langhe Nebbiolo 2022
A 'baby Barbaresco' courtesy of Enrico Dellapiana. This highly fragrant, vibrant expression of nebbiolo seduced our Wine Champions panel with its ‘elegant rose-petal perfume’ and ‘refined, pretty palate.’ Made from young vines in Barbaresco-certified vineyards, it's a fantastic bargain.
'Dirt Track' Sauvignon Blanc, Western Cape 2024
Duncan Savage is South Africa's finest sauvignon blanc producer. So it's a pleasure to have him produce an exclusive wine for us under the Dirt Track label. Crisp, mineral and full of citrus, this is fantastically easy-drinking as a fruity, aromatic sauvignon with bright lime and passionfruit aromas and clean fresh finish.
Le Bosc Grenache Blanc, Pays d'Oc 2024
Soft, round and very easy on the palate, this is a full-flavoured Mediterranean white from the south of France. Herby, citrusy and mouth-watering. The 2024 Bosc wines are sporting a smart new livery.
Perdebee Shiraz-Cinsault, Darling Hills 2022
Cooler-climate shiraz from the relatively newly designated Darling Hills ward, with aromatic black fruit, elegant tannins, and the sprinkling of pepper and spice typical of the region. The wine is named Perdebee for the wasps that act as predators of pests in the vineyard.
The Society's Sicilian White 2024
This unique blend especially created for The Wine Society is 80% grillo, which gives a lovely rich apricot and peach-fruit flavour to this crisp Sicilian white, with 20% carricante, which lifts the freshness while adding an elegant mineral note to the perfume. Enjoy this versatile wine straight from the fridge or with food such as zingy salads, simply grilled seafood, chicken dishes, creamy pasta or risottos.
The Society's Gavi 2024
The Society's Gavi is sourced from old vines of the cortese grape, grown in the gentle rolling hills of Piedmont, north-west Italy. Crowd-pleasing and characterful, this versatile unoaked wine has won many fans over the years. Aromatic and zesty on the nose with an appetisingly dry palate offering refreshing appley, lemony fruit, this makes a great 'house' white to enjoy with a wide variety of dishes. Hazelnuts are found throughout the Piedmont region that is home to Gavi, so much so that it is one of the the largest producing region for the nuts in Europe and hence their place on our label for the wine.
Ignacio Recabarren Casablanca Sauvignon Blanc 2023
2023 was a cool, high-quality vintage in the cool Casablanca Valley of Chile. Superb sauvignon blanc from excellent vineyards in the cool south-west corner of the valley made by master winemaker Ignacio Recabarren. Intense blackcurrant-leaf aromas and a fresh gooseberry-fruit palate and a long finish.
Tannat Les Deux Vaches Rouges, Vin de France, Famille Laplace 2024
Madiran's Laplace family give a different take on the iconic tannat grape here. The accent is on fruit, generosity and ease of drinking. Perfect on the cool side with a grilled steak or duck confit.
Pittnauer St Laurent Vom Dorf 2020
Wonderfully bright and lifted, with a fragrant nose of juicy sour cherry, wild raspberry and rosehip, alongside hints of dried herbs and subtle spice. The palate is silky and fresh, with fine, delicate tannins and a lively acidity that makes it exceptionally drinkable. Light-bodied but full of charm, this is a red that shines best when served lightly chilled, perfect with simple grilled meats, charcuterie or roasted vegetable dishes. Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer have long been champions of Austria’s native grape varieties, and Vom Dorf means from the village with the grapes grown organically in the Burgenland region near the shores of Lake Neusiedl. Often described as pinot noir’s wilder Austrian cousin, St. Laurent thrives in this slightly warmer, sunny part of Austria.
Silbador Bío-Bío Chardonnay 2024
From the cool Bío-Bío region in the south of Chile, 540km south of Santiago, this has bright lemon-and-lime aromas and a refreshing, zesty, linear palate. The ‘Silbador` is an insect-eating bird found in the vineyards whose presence means that Emiliana do not have to use pesticides on their vines and other crops.
