California Vintage 2010
Higher than average rainfall in spring was followed by a cool summer that ended with hot weather in autumn. There was a lot of work and decision making to do in the vineyards about thinning of canopy and crop, as well as when to pick as lower than average sugar levels in many areas became apparent. This pattern is repeated in all the wine growing areas of the state, even further south in Santa Barbara, but the quality of the fruit harvested was very good and the wines show good concentration and definition even if they are a shade more restrained than many a Californian blockbuster of yore.
