Crystallum 'Peter Max' Pinot Noir, Western Cape 2023

0 star rating 0 Reviews
First made in 2008 and named after the growers who supplied the grapes for the maiden vintage, Peter Max is a multi-vineyard blend of cool-climate fruit. Showing great purity of cranberry and wild berry on the nose the palate with fine and elegant with a lithe yet concentrated body, this is a wonderful cool-climate pinot.

Crystallum Wines

A new producer, established in 2006, with 2007 the first vintage release. The winemaker comes from good local stock, however: Peter-Allan Finlayson is the son of Peter Finlayson of Bouchard Finlayson and appears to be something of a chip off the old block when it comes to handling chardonnay and pinot noir.

The vineyards are farmed sustainably, in the charmingly named Crystal Kloof (valley), and the eco-friendly winery is made from straw bales, covered with plaster made from recycled paper and clay.
