Dogliani, Luigi Einaudi 2021

Red Wine from Italy - NW Italy (Piedmont)
3.600000000 star rating 5 Reviews
Dogliani is the Italian home of the dolcetto grape. Its wild strawberry and red-cherry fruit, fresh medium-body and hint of graphite on the finish make it a near-perfect pizza wine and a Wine Champion in 2022.

Luigi Einaudi

Einaudi (prounce Ei, like ‘say’) is based in Dogliani, the hometown of Luigi Einaudi, Italy's first democratically elected president, who produced wine from the age of 23 with 12 hectares in here in 1897. His grandson, Matteo Sardagna, the current owner now has 52 hectares of vines, with 8 hectares in Barolo, 2 ha in Monforte and 5 ha in Neive, all of nebbiolo. The rest is in Dogliani and Farigliano. Since 1993 all the wine is made in the handsome cellars. The family house is now a bed and breakfast. The composer Lodovico Einaudi is Matteo's cousin.
