Domaine de Trévallon Blanc, Alpilles 2019
White Wine from France - Rhone
The clairette grape failed here in this vintage so the 2019 is in fact mostly chardonnay and marsanne, so there is more weight as a result thanks to the very powerful chardonnay.

Domaine de Trévallon
Domaine de Trévallon is undoubtedly one of the greatest estates in Provence producing the region’s finest wine only a few miles from Lirac but across the Rhône and in a very different world.
And even then, Eloi Dürrbach's property stands alone from other estates in les Baux maintaining the style of wine that made Trevallon world famous. Eloi, like his friend Aimé Guibert at the nearby Mas de Daumas Gassac, broke new ground when creating this estate.
The unorthodox mix of grapes (France’s original cabernet-shiraz blend), means its red may only be labelled as Vin de Pays. The vines grow on north facing slopes and are late harvested and the wine is raised for over a year in casks of well-seasoned oak.
In character, the wines lie half-way between the Graves of Bordeaux and Hermitage of the northern Rhône, with finesse and discretion being key elements, showing elegance rather than sheer power.
