Domaine Gauby Case
Wines included
Domaine Gauby, La Jasse Blanc, Côtes Catalanes 2021
This deliciously refreshing muscat is made using full skin maceration during fermentation – an orange wine, in other words. Endlessly complex and captivating, and lovely chilled with tapas or a prawn stir-fry.
Domaine Gauby, Les Calcinaires Blanc, Côtes Catalanes 2021
A very fine Roussillon white with hints of citrus, honeysuckle and wet stone. The mainstay of the blend is macabeu (the same as viura from Rioja), to which chardonnay, grenache blanc and vermentino are added.
Domaine Gauby, Les Calcinaires Rouge, Côtes Catalanes 2021
Soft, ripe red from Roussilon in the deep south of France, with flavours of strawberry, a touch of spice and the delicacy of a Burgundy. It can be drunk at room temperature or cool, and is best decanted to release all the lovely aromas.
Côtes du Roussillon-Villages Muntada, Domaine Gauby 2021
Muntada is a cuvée of very old vines, mostly grenache and 125-year-old carignan, from the Roussillon. There is concentration here, but also great elegance, complexity and a sense of freshness, and great finesse in 2021.
Côtes du Roussillon-Villages Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Gauby 2021
Gérard and Ghislaine Gauby maintain their mission to produce genuinely fine wines from the deep south. Their Roussillon terroir is exceptional, as is their vine stock, which includes 125-year-old carignan. Neither fined nor filtered, this is lovely in its youth and bursting with fruit now, though it will keep well.
Domaine Gauby, Vieilles Vignes Blanc, Côtes Catalanes 2021
This white from the Roussillon has concentration and complexity of something much grander. Maccabeu, also known as viura in Spain, is the main grape variety, fermented and aged partly in oak cask.
