The Tempier 2020 and 2021 Collection
Wines included
Bandol Cuveé Lulu & Lucien, Domaine Tempier 2020
This is the new name for the wine previously referred to as ‘Cuvée Classique`, named in memory of the pioneering couple who created the fortune of both Tempier and Bandol. A blend of roughly 75% mourvèdre alongside cinsault and tiny amounts of grenache and syrah, the 2020 is full-bodied, full of spice and warming richness. Low stock: Limited to six bottles only per member.
Bandol Cuveé Lulu & Lucien, Domaine Tempier 2021
Tempier's most important cuvée has a fresher feel to it in the 2021 vintage, thanks to the cooler spring. The new name pays tribute to one of the great romances in the world of wine: Lucienne ‘Lulu` Tempier, heir to the estate, and Lucien Peyraud, who against much opposition created the Bandol appellation. Lucien passed away some time ago while Lulu lived beyond 100. Low stock: Limited to six bottles only per member.
Bandol La Migoua, Domaine TempIer 2020
Full, richly textured and ripe tasting in 2020. At up to 270m in altitude, La Migoua is the highest vineyard at Domaine Tempier, with vines that are on average 40 years old. The old vines give the wine added concentration and the altitude a freshness and lift. Less dominated by mourvèdre, it tends to produce a softer, more Burgundian style of Bandol, with just over half of the blend comprising mourvèdre, some cinsault and the balance mainly grenache with a tiny drop of syrah.
Bandol La Tourtine, Domaine Tempier 2020
Domaine Tempier's Tourtine vineyard in Bandol is fully south-facing and has the perfect exposition and soil structure for the mourvèdre grape to ripen fully. Here it offers very ripe, luscious fruit and feels very complete in a great vintage.
Bandol La Tourtine, Domaine Tempier 2021
The five-and-a-half hectares of LaTourtine vineyard is fully south-facing, windy and exposed, with deep soils, perfect for the mourvèdre grape to ripen fully. The blend is 85% mourvedre with cinsault and grenache. This wine is only available as part of mixed case MX23344.
Bandol La Migoua, Domaine TempIer 2021
The Migoua vineyard, which is less dominated by mourvèdre, tends to produce a softer, more Burgundian Bandol that is seductive in 2021. A Bandol with great finesse, it comes from very complex soils in a vineyard protected by woods. 55% mourvèdre with 25% cinsault, 15% grenache, and the remainder syrah. This wine is only available as part of mixed case MX23344.
