Dr. Edge Tasmania Chardonnay 2023

0 star rating 0 Reviews
A fine Tasmanian chardonnay, two-thirds of which is made in amphorae and the balance in old French oak barriques. The combination brings a beautiful mouthfeel to the wine and helps to integrate the fresh Tasmanian acidity with the mid-palate texture remarkably well. A serious chardonnay which will reward decanting, in order to let its crisp citrus aromas, delicate hint of sweet spice and succulent stone fruit to shine.

Dr Edge

Peter Edge is considered by many to be the best winemaker in Tasmania, which means he’s among the best in Australia bearing in mind the pool of talent on ‘Tassie’. With a foundation of experience at some great wineries (Petaluma under the legendary Brian Croser in Australia and where he earned his 'Dr Edge' nickname, Dr. Loosen in Germany, Bay of Fires and House of Arras in Tasmania plus many more) he now makes wine at his passion project, Dr Edge while also doing the winemaking honours at Meadowbank.

At Dr Edge he focuses on pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling to thrilling effect and his ability to allow the Tasmanian terroir to do the talking is unrivalled. To satisfy his zeal for doing so he sources fruit from across the island and experiments with different clones, blends and sites to make wines that excite him.
