Languedoc-Roussillon 2020 Anyday Reds
Wines included
Corbières Les Gourgoules, Château de Caraguilhes 2020
Deeply coloured red from a top estate in the Corbiéres. Richly flavoured and fruity with well rounded, ripe tannins. The estate's 135 hectare of vineyards are surrounded by a further 500 hectares of garrigue that provides a rich ecosystem.
Fitou, Domaine Jones 2020
A typically full-bodied, ripe, plummy, figgy Fitou from Ashby-de-la-Zouch's own Katie Jones and a cinch for cool nights and warm, Middle-Eastern spices.
Cabardès, Château de Pennautier 2020
Neighbouring Minervois and the city of Carcassonne, Cabardès is unusual in the Languedoc for its choice of grape varieties from Bordeaux as well as more traditional varieties. All thrive in a region where Mediterranean and Atlantic influences combine. Deeply coloured, fruity and balanced, with a savoury finish.
The Society's Corbières 2020
Dark and brimming with hedgerow fruit and a touch of spice, this is a full-bodied wine from the rugged landscape of the Corbières in the Languedoc-Roussillon. Carignan is the principal element in the blend, which also includes grenache and syrah. An excellent choice for a wide variety of foods.
Corbières-Boutenac Rouge Cuvée Prestige, Château Ollieux-Romanis 2020
From the estate that makes the Society's Corbières, but from the Boutenac sub-district – a sort of regional cru – this is on a grander scale, with more weight of fruit, concentration and length. Deep in colour, ripe, juicy and delicious.
Minervois La Livinière Cuvée Cantilène, Château Sainte-Eulalie 2020
Isabelle Coustal`s premium Minervois combines southern warmth with almost Bordelaise poise in this rich, almost luscious, red of charm and sophistication. There is oak but it is finely judged and only adds to the complexity and polish.
