Hunter's Estate Marlborough Pinot Noir 2023
Winemaker James MacDonald is on a roll and the quality of the wines at this pioneering Marlborough winery have never been better. This is the winery's top pinot noir, which comes entirely from their Estate vineyards. A pristine, more generous and polished style of pinot noir, which shows the hallmark cherry notes of the region beautifully. No new oak has been used, meaning the wine has benefitted from the softening and support of oak fermentation, without taking on any flavours of the wood, meaning the fruit very much does the talking. There are lovely notes of Campari bitters, deep cherry and bramble characters, with lovely depth of flavour. This has a delightful softness, and elegance and at the price is a very good value example of proper pinot noir.
