Introduction to Alsace Whites
Wines included
Pinot Blanc, Cave de Turckheim 2022
Perhaps the most versatile of Alsace wines, pinot blanc is delicate in flavour, dry but nicely rounded on the palate, and easy to drink with or without food.
Sylvaner, Léon Beyer 2022
Classic, dry sylvaner with the freshness to complement seafood now but will open up to the versatile wine we have come to expect from this historic house.
The Wine Society's Generation Series Gentil, Alsace 2021
The Wine Society has worked with several generations of the Hugel family and it felt entirely natural that we should turn to this famous family for a wine from their home region to celebrate our 150th birthday. A refined blend of Alsace noble grape varieties with the freshness of the 2021 vintage: restrained on the nose, more complex and layered on the palate, with gentle texture underpinned by a backbone of minerality, and fine length. Riesling Sec, Domaine Louis Sipp 2021
A precise young riesling with texture and freshness on the palate. It comes from a producer based in the picturesque Alsace village of Ribeauvillé, who is on top form.
Gewurztraminer, Cave de Turckheim 2023
Wonderfully exuberant Alsace gewurz with classic rosewater, ginger and citrus aromas anfd flavours combined with a juicy and generous body. Great with a variety of fragrant curries, gewurz is also brilliant with strong and smelly washed-rind cheeses and it loves fresh, tangy but sweet tomatoes too.
Pinot Gris Réserve, Joseph Cattin 2023
Richly textured demi-sec style pinot gris from Alsace, its ripeness evidenced by its touch of peach colour; well-structured, balanced and persistent.
