Introduction to Fine Wine
Wines included
Château Dutruch Grand Poujeaux, Moulis-en-Médoc 2017
A perfumed, ready-to-go Moulis from one of our favourite châteaux on the Bordeaux left bank. Savoury, cool cabernet fruit dominates, with perfectly rounded tannins on the finish. The blend is 84% cabernet sauvignon 15% merlot and 1% petit verdot.
Vacqueyras Variation, Domaine de Montvac 2019
Made from 100% old vines of grenache from a specific plot, this is a full-flavoured and spicy southern Rhône, perfect for winter stews.
The Society's Exhibition Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2023
Firm, mineral Chablis matured in foudres for eight months to open up the flavours without masking its freshness with overt oak.
Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Zesty, smart and refreshing sauvignon which demonstrates the finesse possible in Marlborough. This is full of life and the perfect palate pick-me-up, with notes of lemon and a hint of gooseberry on the nose and a fresh, focused and grippy apple and lemon-laden palate. Never OTT and perfectly balanced.
Gavi di Gavi Montessora, La Giustiniana 2023
A single-vineyard Gavi di Gavi from a famous estate in the heart of the commune with a justified reputation for making some of the region's best wines. It offers a beguiling aroma of apple, lime and lime peel, with a touch of smokiness which leads to a palate with great drive and tension. With steely acidity, this is bracingly fresh, with a persistent, mineral finish which will appeal to members who enjoy classic Chablis.
