Italian Sweet Spot Mixed Case
Wines included
The Society's 150th Anniversary Amarone 2018
An exclusive blend made for our 150th Anniversary range by historic family producer Allegrini, comprising 40% corvina, 40% corvinone, 17% rondinella and 3% oseleta. The grapes, selected from the upper hillsides, were hand harvested and then left to dry naturally for four months, losing around 40% of their weight. After a soft pressing, the wine ferments in steel tanks, to capture the purity of the fruit flavours. It was then aged in new barriques for 18 months, softening the tannins and giving the wine a mocha richness to balance out the intense, dried-prune flavours. It was then further aged in large barrels for seven months for the blend to knit, before bottling, and a further four years of ageing. For more on the story of this wine, please scroll down.
Basilisco Teodosio, Aglianico Del Vulture 2020
Viviana Malafarina is well known locally for her attention and dedication to organic agriculture, and her passion for making aglianicos that have elegance and show terroir. Teodosio is made from aglianico vines planted on volcanic earth at 500m altitude, which enhances the perfumed notes of violets and Morello cherries. Viviana is a former teacher, sailor, chef and tour guide on the Orient Express, and is now the custodian of some ancient vines and a 16th-century winery in Basilicata, the instep of Italy's boot.
Chianti Classico Brolio, Barone Ricasoli 2022
Francesco Ricasoli has invested time and energy on improving the vineyards of this great estate, and is now consistently producing some of the best wines of the region. This textbook Chianti Classico has lovely balance, texture and freshness with cherry and red-berry fruit, balanced by soft leather, rosemary and wild thyme.

This delicious crisp bright white is perfect for picturing yourself sipping by the sea in Sorrento close to where this vineyard flourishes. There are fresh lemon-and-lime aromas, with herbal notes and a little minerality developing on the poised palate. Perfect with delicate white fish dishes.
The Society's Exhibition Soave 2023
Pieropan make this Soave exclusively for us, this year using 80% garganega from a vineyard just above the famous Calvarino plot, in the western (warmer) part of Soave, and 20% trebbiano di Soave from Calvarino itself. A dry, lemony and crisp wine with sage, almond and notes of oyster shell on the finish.
