Kutch Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2022

Jamie Kutch is one of California's leading chardonnay and pinot noir producers, focusing on cool-climate, marginal vineyards and guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar. The fruit for his Sonoma Coast Chardonnay comes exclusively from a single vineyard tended by fourth-generation farmers, Nikki and George Bohan – a vineyard, just three miles from the Pacific Ocean, that he felt connected to the first moment he set foot in it. Just five barrels were produced of the 2022 vintage, which is savoury and salty, with deftly-integrated oak bringing very subtle spice and vibrant acidity ensuring a mouth-watering finish. With complex notes of white miso, chamomile, and pear fruit, with an orange citrussy zest, this has real depth and energy. Serious, captivating chardonnay.
