Lacrimus Apasionado, Rioja 2020
A lovely nose of tar and blueberry gives way to a layered palate of dense dark fruits, with its power and depth from the winemaking heightened by lovely freshness. Lacrimus Apasionado comes from Rioja, but with a twist. Javier Rodriguez is the first there to use an Italian-style ‘Amarone’, or air-dried grapes winemaking technique, borrowed from Italy, leaving the graciano grapes on the vine longer while the tempranillo is harvested and left to dry in well-ventilated trays in the cellar.
