The Blind Spot Yarra Valley Pinot Meunier 2021
You may be most familiar with this grape for the part it plays in the classic Champagne blend, however as demonstrated here it can make incredibly drinkable red-fruit-driven red wines too. This comes from 20 year old vines in the cool Yarra Valley, which have been made into sparkling wine for most of their lives! This wine is very light red, almost bordering a dark rosé and is an outstanding pick-me-up aperitif and perfectly smashable! The incredible perfume has been given extra lift thanks to a little whole bunch bringing a hint of peppery herbaceousness. The nose is overflowing with freshly crushed strawberry and raspberry, with a light, crisp palate, reminiscent of raspberry sorbet. Lightly chill and drink instead of an Aperol spritz or cold beer for a glass of fun and rewarding refreshment. Please note that this wine is unfiltered and may be cloudy or contain a little sediment, which is perfectly normal and part of its charm.
Val de Loire Malbec, Domaine des Rochelles, J. Lebreton 2020
A grape associated more with Argentina these days than with its origins in France, malbec is often known as côt in the Loire valley. Jean-Hubert Lebreton’s refreshingly modern take on it is certified organic, light, fragrant and delicious.
Hortas do Caseirinho White Frisante
Portugal may not be the first place you think of when looking for good fizz, but this is a delightful, delicate semi-sparkling white from the home of Vinho Verde which we reckon could give Prosecco a run for its money! Vibrant with citrus-fruit flavour and made in a lovely, light, easy-drinking style.
The Society's English White 2021
Our flagship English white comes from Three Choirs in Gloucestershire, from the refreshing and aromatic 2021 vintage, with aromas of white-fruits, citrus and gooseberry, and a light, structured and pure palate. A blend of Madeleine Angevine, solaris, orion, seyval blanc, reichensteiner and bacchus, this is a delicious dry white and a real success story from such a tricky English vintage.
The Society's Côtes de Gascogne 2021
Noticeably drier in this vintage, this is fragrant, light, crisp Gascon white with a slight refreshing prickle. There is a hint of citrus on the palate that is more grapefruit than lemon. Light enough to be perfect on its own or with summery salads.
L Riesling Mosel, Dr Loosen 2020
A lovely, fresh tasting German riesling from the Mosel and from a ripe vintage. Clean, fruity lines with a little sweetness and just 8.5% alcohol. A perfect aperitif.
