London - Fine wine dinner with Au Bon Climat

We return to Clarke’s Restaurant in Kensington for fine dining accompanied by very fine wines from California’s Au Bon Climat in the company of winemaker Jim Adelman. The three-course meal will be accompanied by six wines, some from ABC’s ‘library’ stocks.

Au Bon Climat, with whom The Society has been working for several decades, is an icon of the Californian wine industry. Founded by wine maverick Jim Clendenen in 1982, the estate was producing distinctive, cooler-climate wines long before it became fashionable to do so in recent years. Jim’s daughter and son, Isabelle and Knox now run the business.

We will be pairing ABC’s wines, some from their private cellars, or ‘library’, and therefore not available for sale, with Sally Clarke’s excellent California-inspired menu.

To take us through these wines and to give us their back story, we’re delighted to welcome wine maker Jim Adelman, the estate’s day-to-day winemaker and overseer of all aspects of wine production at the winery since the early ‘90s. It promises to be a fabulous evening as we continue to celebrate our 150th anniversary by bringing loyal members and producers together.

The close relationships we have with our winemakers, growers and producers is something we cherish.  From walkaround tastings to focused roundtable discussions, we love to give members the opportunity to meet the people behind your favourite wines.

Sit back, relax, and let the Tastings & Events team guide you through the wonders of food and wine pairing, whether it be at a restaurant takeover, themed dinner, Members’ lunch, or foodie masterclass.  Our team will help members learn the building blocks of how the flavours and sensations in food and wine interact. The menus for the events are usually provided on registration but do let us know of any dietary or seating requirements.

Do you send physical tickets or is it all e-tickets? 

We no longer send out physical tickets for our events. An email confirming registration will be sent to the member who has purchased the ticket(s) and this email can be used as confirmation upon arrival at the event.  

Can I bring a non-member? 

Yes. Tickets must be booked by a member, but you are welcome to bring non-member guests.

Do I need to know lots about wine to attend?

Absolutely not! Our events target a range of experience and knowledge levels, and we try to make this clear on our event pages. If you’re unsure if an event is for you, simply contact and we will try to help.

Do I get a discount on wines after events?

After our ‘in person’ events, we offer attendees a 10% discount on the wines we have shown, subject to availability. You will be provided with a private code after attending the event to redeem the discount

Yes. Please do feel free to join our waiting lists for sold out events. If tickets become available you will be contacted by email.
