To celebrate our 150th birthday year, we’re hosting four special weekend events featuring walkarounds, tasting masterclasses, speciality seminars and pairing experiences, the likes of which we’ve never offered members before.

As part of our birthday, we’re releasing four ‘eras’ of wines – the Generation Series – that showcases each 50-year period in the world of wine. Ranging from our creation in 1874 to a look forward 50 years into the future ending in 2074, we are travelling through time and around the globe to bring you the best the wine world has to offer.

This event – the third of our eras – celebrates the years of 1974 to 2024 and is packed full of wines to taste and activities to get involved with. There’s something for every knowledge level and is an ideal event to invite family and friends.

What’s included in my ticket?

This ticket price includes:

  • a four-hour pass to explore a series of rooms featuring producer walkaround areas
  • fine wine tasting tables
  • interactive areas with games and challenges
  • ‘how to taste’ and ‘wine faults’ learning stations

We have invited the producers of our each of our time-capsule releases to show their limited-edition wines (and more!) as a first taste for members in our 30 wine ‘Era’ room. Producers include the likes of modern classic producers, Whistler from Australia; famed traditional winemakers like the new Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi MW of Valpolicella and more. We can’t release the names of the wines we will be showing – this would spoil the surprise! – but we can promise a range of styles to suit all palates.

Beyond the 50-year time capsule walkaround, we’ll also have a second room complete with some of our highly limited Anniversary range – fine wines that have been many years in the making, produced with some of the finest winemakers in the world and cellared to perfection. Wines on show will come from producers such as Château Angludet, Contino and Jean-Marc Brocard

We’ll also have tables celebrating the styles, stories and culture of wine during the period. The details of these will be released later in 2023. Once updated, we will update ticket holders immediately.

With more than 80 wines to try, ranging from affordable easy-drinking styles to premium fine wines, there is something for all tastes. And you can invite as many guests as you like!

Did you know that you can also sign up for one of our Masterclasses on Burgundy with Toby Morrhall or with Australian and New Zealand icons with Whistler and Zephyr wines. As a walkaround ticket holder, you can select any masterclass. See what is available here

We also have an incredibly special opportunity to join buyer Toby Morrhall and two of the great heroes of South American wine – Marcelo Papa of Concha y Toro, Chile and Susana Balbo of Argentina – to taste some of their more premium wines alongside a specially paired menu at the luxury King Street Townhouse Private Dining area. Click here for tickets, spaces are limited.

Our 150th Anniversary Exhibitions are unlike events we have hosted before at The Wine Society.

Designed to celebrate four wine releases, the core element of the event will be a walkaround room featuring the specially created and curated wines from each of the eras and other wines from those producer.

Also included, will be an additional walkaround featuring tables that celebrate historically significant events during those eras, a fine wine table of additional wines produced for the celbratory year, food and wine pairing stations and 'how to taste' tables - all designed to enhance the experience of the event.

With three different options to attend (Friday evening, Saturday daytime and Saturday evening) we have made our events as easy to attend as possible, and encourage you to buy tickets for friends to share the joy.

The four Exhibitions are detailed below:

  • Era One (1874 - 1924) - The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane, London
  • Era Two (1924 - 1974) - The Royal Marriott Hotel, Bristol
  • Era Three (1974 - 2024) - The Lowry Hotel, Manchester
  • Era Four (2024 - 2074) - The Assembly Halls, Edinburgh

A full list of the key events can be found here.

What else?

In addition to the core walkarounds, we have additional options for members to buy to enhance their experience even more.

For each event we have also arranged:

  • 3 masterclasses on different topics pertinent to the 50 year theme.
  • An option to pre-purchase food tokens, to enjoy a small snacking plate and some additional wines to pair with them.

Members who attend our 150th anniversary events will be entitled to our usual 10% tastings discount on most available wines shown. Our limited edition wines, however, are in short supply and we will therefore not be able to offer the discount on all wines. Please note, this discount will also not apply to wines that are already discounted.

Do you send physical tickets or is it all e-tickets?

We no longer send out physical tickets for our events. An email confirming registration will be sent to the member who has purchased the ticket(s) and this email can be used as confirmation upon arrival at the event.

Can I bring a non-member?

Yes. Tickets must be booked by a member, but you are welcome to bring non-member guests.

Do I need to know lots about wine to attend?

Absolutely not! Our events target a range of experience and knowledge levels, and we try to make this clear on our event pages. If you’re unsure if an event is for you, simply contact tastings@thewinesociety.com and we will try to help.

Do I get a discount on wines after events?

After our ‘in person’ events, we offer attendees a 10% discount on the wines we have shown, subject to availability. You will be provided with a private code after attending the event to redeem the discount

What is your cancellation policy?

Full details on our cancellation policy can be found here.

Can I join a waiting list for sold out events?

Yes. Please do feel free to join our waiting lists for sold out events. If tickets become available you will be contacted by email.
