Grillo Sicilia Isola della Fiamma, Cantine Rallo 2023

This aromatic dry white has notes of nectarine, pear and peach. The grillo is grown in coastal vineyards in Western Sicily, and here has just a small addition (20%) of zibibbo that adds vibrancy and orange-blossom aromas.

Italy £7.75 per bottle
2024 - 2025

Les Pierres Bordes Marsanne-Viognier, Pays d'Oc 2023

This marriage of two Rhône grape varieties from the Minervois/Saint-Chinian border is now a firm member favourite. Fresh, round, full-flavoured and moreishly fruity.

France £7.50 per bottle
2023 - 2024

Duo Des Mers Sauvignon-Viognier, Vin de France 2023

A gem of a wine and a worthy 2024 Wine Champion. As one taster put it, ‘this tasted like the south of France. Characterful, easy to like, cracking value.` So many members turn to this happy union of zingy Gascon sauvignon blanc and fragrant peachy Languedoc viognier for summer refreshment, and it was easy to see why during our blind tastings.

France
2024 - 2025

Cuvée Laborie, Pays d'Oc 2023

Uncomplicated charm doesn`t get more charming than this. A popular southern French red and a Wine Champion in 2024, Laborie was given a makeover in 2023 to include some especially good, crunchy syrah fruit. Tasted blind among its peers, it was a resounding hit: ‘So much fruit, juicy and user friendly. Incredible value.`

France £7.75 per bottle
2024 - 2025

Lascar Classic Carmenère 2023

This Chilean carmenère is a good entry-level example of this variety, with its black-pepper nose and ripe, juicy and succulent palate.

Chile
2024 - 2027

Sauvignon Blanc 'Pure Vallée' Vin de France, Famille Bougrier 2023

This wine combines Loire and southern French fruit for a delicate, slightly tropical aroma, and easy, creamy finish.

France £7.75 per bottle
2024 - 2025

Baccolo Appassimento Rosso Veneto 2022

This popular Veneto red's opulent rich style is achieved by partial natural air-drying of the grapes (a mix of merlot and corvina) to add richness. Black cherry and leather on the nose, with more spice developing on the palate and finish.

Italy £8.25 per bottle
2024 - 2026

Domaine Mallory et Benjamin Talmard, Mâcon-Villages 2023

The Talmard family name has been involved in wine production since the 17th century, and it was the current generation`s grandfather, Joseph, that planted some of the current Talmard vineyards at the family`s home base Uchizy. Joseph`s son Paul Talmard led the next generation. He used to deliver his grapes to the local co-operative at Chardonnay, but in 1971 he withdrew, believing he could make better wine under his own domaine name. His wines went from strength to strength, and in 1997 he appointed his daughter Mallory and her husband Benjamin as chief winemakers. They have taken full control in recent years, and continue to run the winery with Paul`s philosophy and values. This is a lovely example of the plump ripe and round style of unoaked chardonnay from the Mâconnais. The grapes are cool fermented in stainless steel tanks and kept on their fine yeast lees until bottling in the spring following the vintage.

France £12.95 per bottle
2024 - 2026

Percheron Chenin Blanc-Viognier, Coastal Region 2024

Popular Cape White Blend with chenin's fresh stone-fruit flavour complemented by rich and aromatic viognier. A lot of flavour at moderate alcohol.

South Africa £7.95 per bottle
2024 - 2025

Côtes-du-Rhône, Domaine Jaume 2022

Three generations of the Jaume family farm some 200 acres of vineyard in the village of Vinsobres. The climate here is influenced by Alpine foothills so that cooling breezes play on the vines, preserving fresh-fruit flavours in the wines. Fleshy and generous core with bright red berries and hint of liquorice and clove.

France £9.95 per bottle
2024 - 2028

Sabina Tempranillo, Navarra 2023

A modest, inexpensive Spanish red from the country's most famous grape. This is smooth, fruity and more mellow than usual with a touch of cedar. Everything about Bodegas Príncipe de Viana is vast. Owners of over 400 hectares of vines in Navarra, they control a further 500 hectares, but the winemaking approach is sensitive and modest, aiming always for clean, balanced flavours and offering superb value for money.

Spain £7.50 per bottle
