Wines included
Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, Domaine Guénault 2023
From the Bougrier family's own property, where the chalk soils imbue a classical Loire minerality to the wine, making it a great alternative to Central Vineyards sauvignons.
Domaine Mallory et Benjamin Talmard, Mâcon-Villages 2023
The Talmard family name has been involved in wine production since the 17th century, and it was the current generation`s grandfather, Joseph, that planted some of the current Talmard vineyards at the family`s home base Uchizy. Joseph`s son Paul Talmard led the next generation. He used to deliver his grapes to the local co-operative at Chardonnay, but in 1971 he withdrew, believing he could make better wine under his own domaine name. His wines went from strength to strength, and in 1997 he appointed his daughter Mallory and her husband Benjamin as chief winemakers. They have taken full control in recent years, and continue to run the winery with Paul`s philosophy and values. This is a lovely example of the plump ripe and round style of unoaked chardonnay from the Mâconnais. The grapes are cool fermented in stainless-steel tanks and kept on their fine yeast lees until bottling in the spring following the vintage.
A Fistful of Schist Chenin Blanc, Swartland 2024
Taken from old chenin vines in the heart of the Swartland this is an impressively complex South African chenin for the price, with crisp stone-fruit and tropical notes and a smooth mouthfeel with a crisp, fresh finish.
Stoneburn Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Made for us by family winery Hunter's, this is attractive and elegant on the nose, with sappy gooseberry and citrus notes and a smooth, refreshing palate. A favourite of so many members for years now, this is a perfect representation of how good inexpensive Marlborough Sauvignon can be.
Percheron Chenin Blanc-Viognier, Coastal Region 2024
Popular Cape White Blend with chenin's fresh stone-fruit flavour complemented by rich and aromatic viognier. A lot of flavour at moderate alcohol.
Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur Lie, Domaine des Ratelles 2023
Owned and run by the Vinet family, this domaine works prime Muscadet vineyards in the heart of Sèvre-et-Maine. Their best old-vine plot goes into this wine, and the 2023 is a great expression of the classic minerality, refreshing aromas and pronounced purity that results.
Lascar Classic Valle Central Chardonnay 2024
This good-value Chilean chardonnay offers ripe melony flavours and a fresh, round palate.
Familie Mantler Gemischter Satz, Niederösterreich 2024
Gemischter Satz is a traditional Austrian dry white wine style; historically a field blend of various varieties which would have been drunk as a house wine. This example, from the delightful Mantler family, is a delicious take on the style and is fruity, dry and easy drinking with a delicate spritz that makes it extra refreshing. Made up of 80% grüner veltliner, 15% müller-thurgau and 5% muskateller, this is fragrant and charming. It has a peachy and orange-blossom character on the nose and a focused, fresh and zesty palate. A good, honest and charming wine which is a perfect fridge door staple.
Les Pierres Bordes Marsanne-Viognier, Pays d'Oc 2024
This marriage of two Rhône grape varieties from the Minervois/Saint-Chinian border is now a firm member favourite. Fresh, round, full-flavoured and moreishly fruity.
Duo Des Mers Sauvignon-Viognier, Vin de France 2024
Fragrant, fruity, full-flavoured southern French white, the happy marriage of two worlds with crisp sauvignon coming from Gascony and full-bodied, peachy viognier coming from Languedoc.
Pinot Grigio delle Venezie, Castel Pietra 2024
From grapes grown in the highest portion of vineyards in the delle Venezie appellation, this pinot grigio benefits from sunny days but cool nights, brightening both the aromatics and the acidity. Dry and refreshing with flavours of ripe green apples and conference pears and a chalky minerality, this is a well-balanced, easy-drinking any day white.
Feudo Arancio Grillo, Sicilia 2024
Easy-going sunny Sicilian grillo showing apricot and pink-grapefruit notes with a touch of saltiness on the refreshing finish, unsurprising for vines growing so close to the sea. This is a great match to Sicilian roasted vegetables. It comes from a region with serious water problems, and the forward-thinking cooperative behind the wine has taken great strides to reduce water usage through, for example, the use of drip irrigation.
