The Wine Society's Generation Series Haut-Médoc 2019
A silky smooth blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% merlot from the superb 2019 vintage, this is now drinking beautifully. With vibrant, refreshing cabernet fruit combining with plump, velvety merlot this is a harmoniously balanced left bank claret of impressive purity and length. A Sunday roast classic. The Society's Rioja Crianza 2019
A smooth, rich and oaky Rioja, made in the traditional style from 100% tempranillo aged in American and French oak for over two years (meaning it could qualify as a reserva). The fruit comes from vineyards in Rioja's Alavesa region which is renowned for the quality of tempranillo.
The Society's Cava Reserva Brut 2021
A highly praised, lowly priced standout in our 2024 Wine Champions sparkling tastings, this serial Champion hails from the small family estate of Sumarroca who make it exclusively for members. Described as ‘wonderful, full but fresh and with such energy`, this is a failsafe favourite.
The Society's Australian Chardonnay 2023
Made exclusively for us by Yalumba, this is a convincing representation of modern Australian chardonnay at a very good-value price point. Crisp, citrus-led and light on the palate, it makes for enjoyable, unpretentious refreshment.
Les Pierres Bordes Marsanne-Viognier, Pays d'Oc 2023
This marriage of two Rhône grape varieties from the Minervois/Saint-Chinian border is now a firm member favourite. Fresh, round, full-flavoured and moreishly fruity.
Rosé Duo des Plages, Pays d'Oc 2023
The ‘duo' in question is cinsault and grenache, both stalwarts of the Languedoc. This is a pale rosé and such an easy charmer to be enjoyed on its own or with a salad – and not necessarily on the beach!
