Menetou-Salon Rouge Les Cris, Domaine Pellé, 2021
A dense Loire pinot noir yet one with expressive perfume and tart strawberry fruit, this is a light but serious and gastronomic red. A selection from vines planted adjacent to the cellar in 1967 on Kimmeridgian soil, across five hectares lying east to west, offering diversity of aspect, which in turn brings complexity to the blend.

Transparent crimson. Low-key nose. Non showy but convincingly mineral. Rather pure, definitely a fine-value alternative to a Côte de Beaune. Bone dry. Another wine for purists. JancisRobinson.com
