Montefalco Grechetto, Scacciadiavoli 2023
Poised and herbal scented, this lifted elegant Umbrian white is understated and delicious. Lemon skin, a touch of Greek yoghurt from the extended yeast-lees contact and sage on the finish make this a perfect match for delicate white fish dishes or butter-based pasta sauces. Winners of our 2024 Climate & Nature fund which will go towards a project to revive an ancient method of vine cultivation that has now largely fallen into disuse – the planting of ‘married grapevines’. The project is to test the financial and environmental benefits (and share the outcomes) of planting 35 trees together with 35 trebbiano spoletino vines to see how this improves resilience, biodiversity and wine quality.
