This is a lovely, fruit-driven red from Gascony, made from an unusual mix of grape varieties. The base is merlot, with syrah added for spice and body, while pinot noir brings finesse and delicacy. Lovely served on the cool side.
Örökség 'Heritage' Bikavér, Takler 2018
Light, fresh and fragrant bikavér (bika = bull, vér = blood) from the excellent Takler winery in Szekszárd. From mainly kékfrankos, this is brimming with aromas of redcurrants and spices and has a juicy, refreshing palate.
Lagrein Riserva, Castel Firmian Mezzacorona 2019
From this slightly below the radar Italian grape variety lagrein, we have a riserva, aged in large oak barrels, softening the tannins and creating a rich fully fruited red with gentle spice on the finish.
