Greece is reported to have in the region of 350 native grape varieties, most of which are never found outside the country.

Join Anna from the Tastings Team as she explores a handful of the most prominent and exciting varieties that we’re lucky enough to be able to bring to our members. She’ll cover history, where they are grown and the styles of wine that they make with some producers to watch for too.

She’ll explore white varietals ranging from the rose-hued roditis, to the now famous flagship assyrtiko, and fragrant moschofilero. For reds, there’s not only the famous xinomavro (already a member favourite) but also age-worthy agiorgitiko and more.

So, join Anna to better understand the varieties and taste a few along the way.

Please note, the Assyrtiko and Rose wines will be available for sale soon. If you have registered, you will be emailed once these are ready to buy.

Our ‘focus on’ event series is designed to delve a little deeper into the world of wine. Whether it’s jumping feet first into one appellation; tackling a viticultural topic; exploring a wine-making technique or geeking out on geology and history, these events are each 45 minutes of focus designed for those wanting more than the everyday event.

Our online tutored events are one of the most popular styles at The Wine Society. Drawing on a wealth of knowledge from our tasting team, our buyers, and sometimes our producers, we love giving our members the opportunity to learn with us and broaden their understanding of the vast world of wine.

Themes vary from big picture topics to detailed deep dives and if you’re not sure if the event will be pitched at your level of experience, then simply get in touch at tastings@thewinesociety.com
