Online - Global Food Staples - Fish & Seafood
The food we eat varies from person to person, shaped by our preferences and upbringing. However, certain foods are considered “staple foods”, meaning they form the foundation of a population’s diet, often spanning across countries and continents.
In this online series, we take a closer look at some of these “staples”, exploring their traditional regions, their importance and some of the popular dishes consumed.
Here at The Wine Society, we find that our love of wine is often matched by a love of food. This love and appreciation goes beyond the plate to the provenance of the ingredients, how the dish is prepared and the culture behind its creation.
In this online series, we take a closer look at some of the most widely planted and globally consumed “staple foods”, exploring their traditional growing regions, their importance and some of the popular dishes consumed.
For this session, we are focusing on fish & seafood via 3 different dishes which we will discuss – all accompanied by 3 wines, carefully selected to match the plate.
We’re proud of a diverse online food and wine programme at The Wine Society. Formats range from cheese and wine evenings, takeaway nights and restaurant ‘dine at home’ kits. We will explain where to purchase the food in advance; either from trusted partners or your own local suppliers, and we will suggest the wines to buy in advance to accompany the evening.
