Domaine les Alexandrins is a relatively new operation in the northern Rhône, but one founded by families with much experience.

Stemming from a shared winemaking philosophy, the partnership between Jaboulet, Perrin and Sorrel began in 2014, though Domaine les Alexandrins has existed since 2009. Making wine from 12 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, the trio specialise in accessible fine wines from the northern Rhône, farmed sustainably.

The Society’s Exhibition Crozes-Hermitage comes from this stable and is one of our top-awarded wines and Marcel Orford-Williams, our buyer for the Rhône, has invited Nicolas to come and speak with our members in an online event.

In this relaxed evening, Nicolas and Marcel will share stories of the Domaine, how it came to be and its direction in the future, as well as explaining the details of our much-loved own label wine and others that they produce.
This promises to be an evening ideal for those wishing to learn a little more about this burgeoning estate and enjoy a glass of Exhibition Crozes-Hermitage with members. Just be sure to have a nice cheese plate or shepherd’s pie ready for after too!

The wine the pair will largely discuss can be found below and whilst the event is free, we recommend buying a bottle to enjoy whilst you listen.

Alexandre Caso and Guillaume Sorrel began Domaine des Alexandrins in 2009. Having begun the enterprise as an agency supplying specialised labour for vineyard work, Alexandre’s first employee was Guillaume, son of renowned winemaker Marc Sorrel. The business did so well that Alexandre soon offered Guillaume a partnership. In 2014 they brought in Nicolas Jaboulet to make the Maison Les Alexandrins wines. Today the Domaine is run by Nicolas and Alexandre, with Benoît Busseuil responsible for winemaking.

The 12 hectares of vineyards owned by the Domaine are farmed using no pesticides or herbicides and work each vineyard with real respect for the environment. The harvest is all done by hand and brought to the stone walled winery where bunches are destemmed and fermented in concrete followed by a three day maceration. The wines are then aged between one and four years in barrel. The results are very promising indeed.

Now one of our most popular offerings, these events are designed to give members an insight into wineries by hearing from those on the ground. Often there will be wines to compliment the event, though buying these wines is not compulsory to attend or enjoy the event, and these sessions can be watched with a cup of tea if you would prefer!
